On the occasion of Minorities’ Day on 11^th August 2023

On this auspicious occasion of 11th August, which is observed every year as Minorities Day in Pakistan, I would like to highlight the distinguished role played by minorities in the nation-building process. I would like to acknowledge and appreciate the role played by minorities for the development of the country.

I am glad to state that minorities in Pakistan enjoy all political, economic, and social rights guaranteed by the Constitution of Pakistan. The Constitution guarantees the political, economic, and social rights of all citizens, regardless of their religious beliefs or ethnicity. As Muslims, we find inspiration in the teachings of Islam, which emphatically advocate for the protection of minority rights and equality among all people, fostering a spirit of harmony and unity within our diverse society.

Pakistan has consistently made efforts for the welfare and upkeep of minorities, including the reservation of a 5% quota in government jobs, and separate seats for minorities in both houses of the Parliament to encourage their active participation in the political and economic development of the country. Moreover, steps are being taken to provide grants, financial assistance, and scholarships to individuals and students from minority communities to support them in their educational pursuits, besides preserving their places of worship. These steps serve as a testament to our commitment to fostering an inclusive and representative society in Pakistan.

Let me reaffirm our unwavering commitment to safeguarding the religious, social, political, and economic rights of our minorities. We assure all minority groups that Pakistan will continue to protect their rights as well as work for their well-being. I also call upon religious scholars and the media to educate the society about the rights of minorities and promote a culture of love, tolerance, brotherhood, and unity in the country. I am hopeful that through our collective efforts, we can forge a stronger and more prosperous Pakistan, where every individual can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the nation's development.

As we celebrate this day, I have complete confidence that our minorities will continue to play their pivotal role in the national development process. On this occasion, I extend my warmest wishes to all minority groups in Pakistan, and I am sure that they would continue to contribute towards the socio-economic uplift of our beloved country.

کا اقلیتوں کے دن ، 11 اگست 2023 ء ، کے موقع پر پیغام

ہر سال  11 گست کا دن پاکستان میں اقلیتوں کے دن کے طور پر منایا جاتا ہے۔آج کے اس پرمسرت دن  کے موقع پر میں قوم کی تعمیر کے عمل میں اقلیتوں کے اہم کردار کو اجاگر کرنا چاہتا ہوں۔ ہم ملکی ترقی میں اقلیتوں کے کردار کا اعتراف  کرتے ہیں اور انہیں اس پر سراہتے ہیں ۔

مجھے خوشی ہے کہ پاکستان میں اقلیتوں کو آئین ِپاکستان میں  ضمانت کردہ تمام سیاسی، معاشی اور سماجی حقوق حاصل ہیں ۔ آئین تمام شہریوں کو ان کے مذہبی عقائد یا نسل سے قطع نظر سیاسی، معاشی اور سماجی حقوق کی ضمانت دیتا ہے۔ بحیثیت ِمسلمان ہم اسلام کی اُن تعلیمات سے متاثر ہیں جو ہمیں ایک متنوع معاشرے میں ہم آہنگی اور اتحاد کے جذبے کے فروغ  کیلئے اقلیتوں کے حقوق کے تحفظ اور تمام لوگوں کے درمیان برابری کا درس دیتی ہیں ۔

پاکستان نے اقلیتوں کی فلاح و بہبود کیلئے مسلسل کوششیں کی ہیں، جن میں سرکاری ملازمتوں میں 5 فیصد کوٹہ اور پارلیمنٹ کے دونوں ایوانوں میں ان کیلئے الگ نشستیں مختص کرنا شامل ہیں۔ اس کا مقصد ملک کی سیاسی اور اقتصادی ترقی میں ان کی فعال شرکت کی حوصلہ افزائی کرنا ہے ۔ مزید برآں، اقلیتی برادریوں سے تعلق رکھنے والے افراد اور طلباء کو ان کی تعلیمی سرگرمیوں میں مدد  اور ان کی عبادت گاہوں کے تحفظ کیلئے گرانٹس، مالی امداد اور اسکالرشپ فراہم کرنے کیلئے اقدامات کیے جا رہے ہیں۔ یہ اقدامات پاکستان میں ایک جامع اور نمائندہ معاشرے کے فروغ کی جانب ہمارے عزم کا ثبوت ہیں۔

میں اپنی اقلیتوں کے مذہبی، سماجی، سیاسی اور معاشی حقوق کے تحفظ کیلئے غیر متزلزل عزم کا اعادہ کرتا ہوں۔ ہم تمام اقلیتی گروہوں کو یقین دلاتے ہیں کہ پاکستان ان کے حقوق کے تحفظ اور ان کی فلاح کیلئے کام کرتا رہے گا۔ میں مذہبی سکالرز اور میڈیا سے بھی اپیل کرتا ہوں کہ وہ معاشرے کو اقلیتوں کے حقوق کے بارے میں آگاہ کریں اور ملک میں محبت، رواداری، بھائی چارے اور اتحاد کے کلچر کو فروغ دیں۔ مجھے امید ہے کہ ہم اپنی اجتماعی کوششوں کے ذریعے ایک مضبوط اور زیادہ خوشحال پاکستان بنا لیں گے جہاں ہر فرد کو ترقی کی منازل طے کرنے اور اپنی منفرد صلاحیتوں کو ملکی ترقی کیلئے استعمال کرنے کا موقع میسر ہوگا۔

آج اس دن کو مناتے ہوئے مجھے پورا یقین ہے کہ ہماری اقلیتیں قومی ترقی کے عمل میں اپنا اہم کردار ادا کرتی رہیں گی۔ اس موقع پر، میں پاکستان کے تمام اقلیتی گروہوں کے لیے نیک تمناؤں کا اظہار کرتا ہوں۔ مجھے یقین ہے کہ وہ ہمارے پیارے ملک کی سماجی و اقتصادی ترقی میں اپنا حصہ ڈالتے رہیں گے۔
