Message on the Kashmir Solidarity Day, 5 February 2025

Every year, on 5th February, the people of Pakistan reaffirm solidarity with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters. On this day, we renew our unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s just and legitimate struggle for the realization of their inalienable right to self-determination.

The Jammu and Kashmir dispute is one of the oldest unresolved international disputes as India continues to occupy large parts of Jammu and Kashmir against the will of the local people. The situation took a turn for the worse, following India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019, which are aimed at transforming Kashmiris into a disempowered community in their own land. Today, India is making efforts to consolidate its occupation of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) through a series of administrative, judicial and legislative measures. However, these actions cannot suppress the Kashmiri people’s indomitable desire for self-determination.’

Over the last 78 years, Kashmiris have rendered countless sacrifices to exercise their democratic right to determine their own future. On this day, I pay rich tribute to the resilience of the Kashmiri people in the face of state terrorism and oppression. The human rights situation in IIOJK is grim as India is denying the Kashmiris their fundamental rights and freedoms and subjecting them to severe state repression and violence. The people of IIOJK are living in an environment of fear and intimidation and the true representatives of the Kashmiri people remain incarcerated. The Indian security forces use excessive force to brutally victimise political activists and human rights defenders. Media has been silenced through coercion. However, no amount of oppression can dent the determination of the Kashmiris and undermine their legitimate struggle.

This day reminds the international community of its responsibility towards the oppressed Kashmiri people. The United Nations must honour the commitments it had made 77 years ago and support the Kashmiri people’s struggle for self-determination.

Pakistan will always stand shoulder to shoulder with the Kashmiri brothers and sisters. We will continue to extend our full moral, diplomatic and political support to their just struggle for the realization of their right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

ہر سال 5 فروری کو پاکستانی عوام اپنے کشمیری بھائیوں اور بہنوں کے ساتھ اظہارِ یکجہتی کرتے ہیں۔ آج کے دن ہم کشمیری عوام کے ناقابل ِتنسیخ حق ِخود ارادیت کے حصول کے لیے اُن کی منصفانہ اور جائز جدوجہد کیلئے اپنی غیر متزلزل حمایت کی تجدید کرتے ہیں۔

مقامی لوگوں کی مرضی کے خلاف جموں و کشمیر کے بڑے حصے پر مسلسل بھارتی قبضے کےباعث تنازع جموں و کشمیر سب سے پرانے حل طلب بین الاقوامی تنازعات میں سے ایک ہے ۔مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر میں  5 اگست 2019ء کے بھارتی غیر قانونی اور یکطرفہ اقدامات کے بعد صورتحال مزید خراب ہوئی  ہے۔ ان اقدامات کا مقصد کشمیریوں کو ان کی اپنی ہی سرزمین میں ایک بے اختیار کمیونٹی میں بدلنا ہے۔ بھارت انتظامی، عدالتی اور قانونی اقدامات کے ذریعے غیر قانونی طور پر بھارتی زیرِ تسلط جموں و کشمیر پر اپنے قبضے کو مستحکم کرنے کی کوششیں کر رہا ہے۔ تاہم یہ اقدامات کشمیری عوام کے حق ِخودارادیت کے انمٹ جذبے کو دبا نہیں سکتے۔

گزشتہ 78 سالوں میں کشمیریوں نے اپنے مستقبل کا تعین خود کرنے کے جمہوری حق کے لیے بے شمار قربانیاں دی ۔ آج کے دن میں ریاستی دہشت گردی اور جبر کے سامنے کشمیری عوام کے عزم  و استقلال کو زبردست خراج تحسین پیش کرتا ہوں۔ مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر میں انسانی حقوق کی صورتحال سنگین ہے ۔ بھارت کشمیریوں کو ان کے بنیادی حقوق اور آزادیوں سے محروم کر رہا ہے اور انہیں شدید ریاستی جبر اور تشدد کا نشانہ بنا رہا ہے۔ مقبوضہ جموں و کشمیر کے عوام خوف و ہراس کے ماحول میں رہ  رہے ہیں اور کشمیری عوام کے حقیقی نمائندے مقیّد ہیں۔ بھارتی سیکورٹی فورسز سیاسی کارکنوں اور انسانی حقوق کے محافظوں کو بے دردی سے نشانہ بنانے کے لیے طاقت کا بے جا استعمال کر رہی ہیں۔ میڈیا کو جبر کے ذریعے خاموش کیا جا رہا  ہے۔ تاہم ، کسی بھی قسم کا ظلم کشمیریوں کے عزم کو متزلزل اور ان کی جائز جدوجہد کو کمزور نہیں کر سکتا۔

یہ دن عالمی برادری کو مظلوم کشمیری عوام کی جانب اس کی ذمہ داری کی یاد دلاتا ہے۔ اقوام متحدہ کشمیریوں سے 77 سال قبل کیے گئے وعدوں کا احترام کرے اور ان کے حق خودارادیت کی جدوجہد کی حمایت کرے۔

پاکستان ہمیشہ اپنے کشمیری بھائیوں اور بہنوں کے ساتھ کندھے سے کندھا ملا کر کھڑا رہے گا۔ ہم اقوام متحدہ کی سلامتی کونسل کی متعلقہ قراردادوں کے مطابق کشمیریوں کے حق ِخودارادیت کی خاطر ان کی منصفانہ جدوجہد کے لیے اپنی مکمل اخلاقی، سفارتی اور سیاسی حمایت جاری رکھیں گے۔
