Message on the WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 5th June 2025

As we observe World Environment Day 2025, we are reminded of our shared responsibility to protect the planet and secure a sustainable future for the generations to come.

Pakistan is one of the countries most vulnerable to climate change. Each year, we face devastating floods, droughts, and heat waves that displace millions of people. Yet, our contribution to global carbon emissions is less than 1%. This imbalance highlights the urgent need for global climate justice and strong international support.

Despite limited resources, Pakistan is taking steps to tackle environmental challenges. We are working to mobilize climate finance by combining national efforts with private investment and international support. Key strategic instruments include: The $1.4 billion Resilience and Sustainability Facility from the IMF, which supports reforms such as a carbon levy, electric vehicle promotion, and improved energy efficiency: the World Bank’s Country Partnership Framework (2026–2035), focused on flood resilience, clean energy transition, sustainable agriculture, and better air quality. The 2024 Carbon Market Policy Guidelines aim to attract green private investment. All these efforts align with Pakistan’s broader economic transformation plan — Uraan Pakistan.

But governments alone cannot solve this crisis. Each of us has a role to play. Let us commit to taking small, everyday actions that make a big difference, reducing single-use plastics, promoting forestation, recycling waste, and supporting policies that protect nature.

On this World Environment Day, I urge every citizen, organization, and public institution to unite for a cleaner, greener Pakistan. Let us work together to address climate change, protect biodiversity, and use our natural resources wisely and responsibly.

ماحولیات کا عالمی دن ہمیں کرہ ارض کی حفاظت، آئندہ نسلوں کے پائیدار مستقبل کی جانب ذمہ داری کی یاددہانی کراتا ہے، صدر مملکت 

 پاکستان ان ممالک میں سے ایک ہے جو موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں سے سب سے زیادہ متاثر ہیں، صدر مملکت 

پاکستان میں تباہ کن سیلابوں، خشک سالی اور گرمی کی لہروں سے لاکھوں افراد متاثر ہوتے ہیں، صدر مملکت 

عالمی کاربن کے اخراج میں ہمارا حصہ 1% سے بھی کم ہے، صدر مملکت

محدود وسائل کے باوجود پاکستان ماحولیاتی چیلنجوں سے نمٹنے کیلئے اقدامات کر رہا ہے، صدر مملکت 

ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے نمٹنے کی ہماری کوششیں پاکستان کے وسیع تر اقتصادی تبدیلی کے منصوبے اُڑان پاکستان سے ہم آہنگ ہیں، صدر مملکت 

 ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے نمٹنے کیلئے ہر ایک کو اپنا کردار ادا کرنا ہے، صدر مملکت 

آئیے روزمرہ زندگی میں ایسے اقدامات کرنے کا عہد کریں جن سے ماحول پر مثبت اثر پڑے، صدر مملکت 

ہمیں پلاسٹک کا استعمال کم کرنا، جنگلات کو فروغ دینا، ری سائیکلنگ کرنا، اور ماحولیاتی تحفظ کی پالیسیوں کو اپنانا ہوگا، صدر مملکت 

 میں ہر شہری اور ادارے پر زور دیتا ہوں کہ وہ ایک صاف اور سرسبز پاکستان کے لیے متحد ہو جائیں، صدر مملکت 

آئیے ماحولیاتی تبدیلیوں سے نمٹنے، حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ اور قدرتی وسائل کے ذمے دارانہ استعمال کے لیے مل کر کام کریں، صدر مملکت
