Message on the Occasion of World Cancer Day on 4th February 2025

On this World Cancer Day, we come together as a nation and as part of the global community to reaffirm our commitment to the fight against cancer. This day is a reminder of the profound challenges posed by this disease and an opportunity to inspire hope through collective action, innovation, and resilience.

As we observe World Cancer Day, it is essential to recognize the gravity of this disease as it is one of the largest causes of death. Rapid urbanization, lifestyle changes, and limited awareness have further compounded this challenge. This calls for renewed commitment and intensified efforts to alleviate the burden of this disease. 

The Government of Pakistan, in collaboration with provincial governments, healthcare institutions, and global partners, is making efforts to address this issue. We have initiated measures to strengthen our healthcare infrastructure, conduct a comprehensive situation analysis of cancer interventions, develop national and provincial cancer strategies, and mobilise resources through innovative public-private partnerships. 

Cancer is not only a health issue but also a societal challenge requiring collective efforts. We need to raise awareness about the disease and, in this regard, the support of the media is highly important to educate people about its symptoms, prevention, and early detection. I firmly believe that we can overcome this challenge through the active support of civil society, media, community-based organizations, and international partners. 

On this occasion, I urge all citizens, healthcare professionals, civil society, and the private sector to join hands in this noble cause. Together, we can ensure that every individual, regardless of socioeconomic status, has access to timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and compassionate care.

Let us pledge to make cancer prevention and control a national priority. I am sure that together, we can bring hope and healing to those affected and honour the lives of those who have been lost to this disease.

کا کینسر کے عالمی دن، 4 فروری 2025ء، کے موقع پرپیغام

کینسر کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر ہم کینسر کے خلاف کوششیں جاری رکھنے کے عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہیں۔ یہ دن ہمیں کینسر سے درپیش چیلنجزسے نمٹنے  کی یاد دہانی کراتا ہے اور اجتماعی عمل، جدت  اور استقامت کے ذریعے لوگوں کو امید دلانے کا موقع فراہم کرتا ہے۔

کینسر کے عالمی دن کے موقع پر اس بیماری کی سنگینی کا ادراک کرنا ضروری ہے ۔ کینسر اموت کی سب سے بڑی وجوہات میں سے ایک ہے۔ شہری آبادی کے تیز پھیلاؤ، طرز ِزندگی میں تبدیلیوں اور محدود آگاہی کے باعث اس مسئلے کی سنگینی  میں مزید اضافہ ہواہے۔ ہمیں شعبہ ِصحت پر کینسر کا بوجھ کم کرنے کیلئے تجدید ِعہد اور تیز تر کاوشوں کی ضرورت ہے۔

حکومت ِپاکستان، صوبائی حکومتوں، صحت کے اداروں اور عالمی شراکت داروں کے ساتھ مل کر، اس مسئلے سے نمٹنے کے لیے کوششیں کر رہی ہے۔ ہم نے صحت کے بنیادی ڈھانچے کو مضبوط بنانے، کینسر کے علاج کی صورتحال کا جامع  تجزیہ کرنے، قومی اور صوبائی کینسر کی حکمت عملی تیار کرنے  اور پبلک پرائیویٹ پارٹنرشپ کے ذریعے وسائل متحرک کرنے کیلئے اقدامات کیے ہیں۔

کینسر صرف صحت کا مسئلہ نہیں  بلکہ ایک سماجی چیلنج بھی ہے  اور اس کے لیے ہمیں اجتماعی کوششوں کی ضرورت ہے۔ ہمیں اس مرض کے بارے میں شعور اجاگر کرنا ہے اور لوگوں کو اس کی علامات، روک تھام اوربروقت  تشخیص کے بارے میں آگاہی دینے کیلئے میڈیا کا تعاون ناگزیر ہے ۔ مجھے پختہ یقین ہے کہ ہم سول سوسائٹی، میڈیا، مقامی تنظیموں اور بین الاقوامی شراکت داروں کی فعال حمایت کے ذریعے اس چیلنج پر قابو پا سکتے ہیں۔

میں اس موقع پر تمام شہریوں، صحت کے شعبے سے منسلک افراد، سول سوسائٹی اور نجی شعبے سے اس نیک مقصد میں ہمارا ساتھ دینے کی اپیل کرتا ہوں۔ ہم سب مل کراس امر کو یقینی بنا سکتے ہیں کہ ہر فرد کو، اس سماجی و اقتصادی حیثیت سے قطع نظر، بروقت تشخیص، مؤثر علاج اور ہمدردانہ نگہداشت تک رسائی حاصل ہو۔

آئیے ، عہد کریں کہ کینسر کی روک تھام اور کنٹرول کو قومی ترجیح بنائیں گے۔ مجھے یقین ہے کہ  ہم سب مل کر کینسر سے متاثرہ افراد کیلئے امید اور شفاء  کا باعث بن سکتے ہیں ۔
