Message on the occasion of International Labour Day, 1st May 2025

On International Labour Day, we pay tribute to the contributions, struggles, and sacrifices of our working men and women who have played an important role in the development of our country. This day reminds us of the historic struggle waged by workers around the world for their rights and dignity. Today, we reaffirm our commitment to their empowerment, fair wages, safe working conditions, and social protection. 

Our labourers and working classes are the driving force of our economy and national development. They build our infrastructure, run our industries, cultivate our lands, and move our economy forward. It is our workers who sustain our manufacturing industries, agriculture, small and medium enterprises, government and other public sectors. Our workers are our pride, and we owe our national development to their hard work and contributions. 

In today’s rapidly changing world, the key to securing a brighter future for our youth and workers lies in their skill development. We need to equip our workers and youth with modern skills to meet the challenges of an ever-changing job market. I call upon governments, private enterprises, educational institutions, and civil society to collaborate in creating a comprehensive ecosystem for the skill development of our labour.

I also urge employers, trade unions, civil society, and the public sector to join hands in creating a just labour ecosystem and work for the welfare and uplift of workers. Let us honour our workers through meaningful policies, inclusive development, and a culture that respects labour in all its forms.

عالمی یومِ مزدور کے موقع پر، ہم ملکی ترقی میں اہم کردار ادا کرنے والے محنت کش مرد و خواتین کی کاوشوں ، جدوجہد اور قربانیوں کو خراج تحسین پیش کرتے ہیں۔ آج کا دن ہمیں اُس تاریخی جدوجہد کی یاد دلاتا ہے جو دنیا بھر کے محنت کشوں نے اپنے حقوق اور وقار کے لیے کی ۔ آج، ہم مزدوروں کی خودمختاری ، منصفانہ اجرت، محفوظ ماحول  اور سماجی تحفظ کیلئے اپنے عزم کا اعادہ کرتے ہیں۔

مزدور اور محنت کش طبقہ ہماری معیشت اور قومی ترقی کا محرک ہے۔ مزدور نہ صرف ہمارے بنیادی ڈھانچے کی تعمیر کرتے ہیں بلکہ ہماری صنعتوں ، زراعت ، اور معیشت کی ترقی میں بھی اہم کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔ ہمارے یہ کارکن ہماری صنعتوں، زراعت، چھوٹے اور درمیانے درجے کے کاروباری اداروں، حکومت اور دیگر عوامی شعبوں کو چلاتےہیں۔ ہمارے کارکن ہمارا فخر ہیں، اور ہماری قومی ترقی انہی کی محنت اور کردار کی مرہون منت ہے۔

آج کی تیزی سے بدلتی دنیا میں اپنے نوجوانوں اور کارکنوں کے روشن مستقبل کو محفوظ بنانے کیلئے ہمیں انہیں ہنرمند بنانے پر توجہ دینا ہوگی۔ ہمہ وقت بدلتی جاب مارکیٹ کے چیلنجوں  کا مقابلہ  کرنے کیلئے ہمیں اپنے کارکنوں اور نوجوانوں کو جدید مہارتوں سے آراستہ کرنے کی ضرورت ہے۔ میں تمام حکومتوں، نجی اداروں، تعلیمی اداروں اور سول سوسائٹی پر زور دیتا ہوں کہ وہ ہمارے مزدوروں کی ہنرمندی کیلئے ایک جامع نظام تشکیل دینے میں اپنا کردار ادا کریں۔

میں آجروں، ٹریڈ یونینوں، سول سوسائٹی اور پبلک سیکٹر سے بھی درخواست کرتا ہوں کہ وہ ایک منصفانہ لیبر ماحول تشکیل دینے اور مزدوروں کی فلاح و بہبود کے لیے کام کریں۔ آئیے ، ہم ملک میں بامعنی پالیسیوں، جامع ترقی، اور ایک ایسے کلچر کو فروغ دیں جہاں ہر محنت  کش کے کردار کا احترام کیا جائے ۔
