Message on the National Day of Bhutan - 17th December 2025

On behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan, I extend warm felicitations to His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, the Royal Government and the people of Bhutan on their National Day.

This day marks the historic coronation of Gongsar Ugyen Wangchuck as the first Druk Gyalpo in 1907, a moment that laid the foundations of a unified and modern Bhutan under the Wangchuck monarchy. It is also an occasion to honour the contribution of Bhutan’s successive monarchs in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and nurturing its unique cultural identity.

Bhutan’s focus on people-centred development, especially its philosophy of Gross National Happiness and its commitment to environmental stewardship, continues to inspire many around the world.

Pakistan values its cordial relations with Bhutan both bilaterally and specially within the SAARC framework. It is sad that India continues to kill the South Asian spirit of SAARC by its hegemonic designs by freezing the great multilateral forum. With the help of the great people of Bhutan, we look forward to revive SAARC with more power and impact.
We also look forward to working together to strengthen cooperation in education, culture, tourism and people-to-people exchanges for the peace and prosperity of our region.

I convey my best wishes for the continued good health and happiness of His Majesty the King and for lasting progress and wellbeing for the people of Bhutan.

کا بھوٹان کے قومی دن کے موقع پر پیغام

حکومتِ پاکستان اور پاکستانی عوام کی جانب سے میں بھوٹان کے قومی دن کے موقع پر بھوٹان کے فرمانروا عزت مآب جگمے کھیسر نامگیل وانگچک، شاہی حکومت اور بھوٹان کے عوام کو دلی مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں۔

یہ دن 1907 میں گونگسار اوگیان وانگچک کی پہلے ڈرک گیالپو کے طور پر تاج پوشی کی یاد دلاتا ہے، جس نے وانگچک شاہی خاندان کی قیادت میں ایک متحد اور جدید بھوٹان کی بنیاد رکھی۔ یہ موقع بھوٹان کے پے در پے آنے والے فرمانرواؤں کی خدمات کو خراجِ تحسین پیش کرنے کا بھی ہے جنہوں نے ملک کی خودمختاری کا تحفظ کیا اور اس کی منفرد ثقافتی شناخت کو فروغ دیا۔

بھوٹان کی عوام دوست ترقی کی سوچ، خصوصاً مجموعی قومی خوشی (Gross National Happiness) کا فلسفہ اور ماحول کے تحفظ کے لیے اس کی وابستگی، دنیا بھر میں لوگوں کے لیے باعثِ ترغیب ہے۔

پاکستان بھوٹان کے ساتھ دوطرفہ سطح پر اور بالخصوص سارک کے دائرہ کار میں خوشگوار تعلقات کو قدر کی نگاہ سے دیکھتا ہے۔ یہ افسوسناک ہے کہ بھارت اپنی بالادستانہ پالیسیوں کے باعث اس اہم علاقائی فورم کو منجمد رکھ کر جنوبی ایشیا کی روح کو نقصان پہنچا رہا ہے۔ ہمیں بھوٹان کے عوام کے تعاون سے امید ہے کہ سارک کو نئی توانائی اور مؤثر کردار کے ساتھ بحال کیا جا سکے گا۔

ہم تعلیم، ثقافت، سیاحت اور عوامی روابط کے شعبوں میں تعاون مزید مضبوط بنانے کے لیے بھی مل کر کام کرنے کے خواہاں ہیں تاکہ ہمارے خطے میں امن اور خوشحالی کو فروغ ملے۔

میں عزت مآب بادشاہ جگمے کھیسر نامگیل وانگچک کے لیے نیک تمناؤں کے ساتھ ساتھ بھوٹان کے عوام کی مسلسل ترقی اور خوشحالی کے لئے دعا گو ہوں۔
