Message on the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 , 18 Augast 2026

I extend my greetings to you, the people of Pakistan, on the launch of the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026. This national initiative reflects our collective responsibility to protect the environment, restore degraded landscapes and build a greener and more climate-resilient Pakistan.

Forests are among Pakistan’s most valuable natural assets. They sustain biodiversity, protect watersheds, combat desertification and land degradation, improve air quality, reduce disaster risks and contribute to climate change mitigation and adaptation. As environmental challenges intensify, protecting and expanding our forest resources has become both a national responsibility and a strategic priority.

Pakistan remains committed to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals and fulfilling its obligations under the Paris Agreement, the United Nations Strategic Plan for Forests 2017–2030, the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and the Convention on Biological Diversity. The Federal Government, Provincial Governments, the Governments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, together with other stakeholders, are working to strengthen forest conservation, ecosystem restoration and sustainable landscape management.

Our national initiatives, including the Upscaling Green Pakistan Programme, restoration of mangrove ecosystems, sustainable forest management and community-based conservation programmes, are helping to expand tree cover, protect biodiversity, improve livelihoods and strengthen resilience to climate change. These efforts must continue alongside measures to protect existing forests and ensure that newly planted trees survive and mature.

The impact of this work is also felt in the daily lives of our people. Trees provide shade in increasingly hot urban areas, help protect soil and water resources, improve the quality of the air we breathe and provide fruit, fodder and other resources to rural communities. For families, farmers and communities facing the effects of heat, water scarcity and extreme weather, healthy forests and green spaces are a practical part of building greater resilience.

I am encouraged by the participation witnessed during the Spring Tree Plantation Campaign 2026. As we build on these efforts, the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 aims to plant 20 million saplings across the country. I call upon our citizens, particularly young people, educational institutions, public and private organisations and local communities to participate actively and, equally importantly, to protect and nurture the saplings that are planted.

The Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2026 is more than a plantation drive. It is a call for sustained environmental responsibility and collective action. I encourage all citizens to plant suitable indigenous tree species and ensure their protection and survival. The true measure of success will not be the number of saplings planted, but the healthy trees and forests that we nurture over the years.

I commend the Ministry of Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Provincial Forest Departments, the Forest Departments of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, development partners, civil society organisations and volunteers for their efforts to conserve Pakistan’s forests and ecosystems.

Let us work together for a greener, cleaner and climate-resilient Pakistan. By protecting our natural resources and caring for the trees we plant today, we can help secure a healthier environment and a better future for generations to come.

مون سون شجرکاری مہم کے آغاز پر میں پاکستان کے عوام کو مبارک باد پیش کرتا ہوں۔ یہ قومی اقدام ماحول کے تحفظ، انحطاط پذیر خطوں کی بحالی، سرسبز اور موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے اثرات سے نمٹنے کے حامل پاکستان کی تعمیر کے لیے ہماری اجتماعی ذمہ داری کا عکاس ہے۔

جنگلات پاکستان کا بیش قیمت قدرتی اثاثہ ہیں۔ یہ حیاتیاتی تنوع کو برقرار رکھنے، آبی گزرگاہوں میں واقع خطوں کی حفاظت، زمین کے بنجر ہونے کی جانب تدارک اورزرخیزی کو برقرار رکھنے، معیاری فضا میں بہتری،  آفات کے دوران خطرات سے نمٹنے ، موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے اثرات کو زائل کرنے اور ان سے مطابقت پیدا کرنے میں اہم کردار ادا کرتے ہیں۔ ماحولیاتی تبدیلی سے جڑی آزمائش میں شدت کے پیشِ نظر ہمارے جنگلات کا تحفظ اور ان کے رقبے میں اضافہ ایک قومی ذمہ داری کے ساتھ ساتھ ایک اہم تزویراتی ترجیح بن چکی ہے ۔

پاکستان پائیدار ترقی کے اہداف کے حصول اور پیرس معاہدے، اقوام متحدہ کے جنگلات کے حوالے سے 2017ء تا 2030ء تزویراتی منصوبے، اقوام متحدہ کے کنونشن برائے انسدادِ صحرائی پھیلاؤ اور حیاتیاتی تنوع کے کنونشن کے عملدرآمد میں اپنی ذمہ داریوں کی تکمیل کے لیے پُرعزم ہے۔ وفاقی حکومت، صوبائی حکومتیں، آزاد جموں و کشمیر اور گلگت بلتستان کی حکومتیں، دیگر متعلقہ اداروں اور شراکت داروں کے ساتھ مل کر جنگلات کے تحفظ، ماحولیاتی نظام کی بحالی اور زمین کے دیرپا انتظام کو مستحکم کرنے کے لیے اقدامات کر رہی ہیں۔

ہمارے قومی سطح پراقدامات، جن میں "اَپ اسکیلنگ گرین پاکستان پروگرام"، مینگروو کے ماحولی نظام کی بحالی، پائیدار جنگلاتی انتظام اور کمیونٹی پر مبنی تحفظ کے پروگرام شامل ہیں، درختوں کے رقبے میں اضافے، حیاتیاتی تنوع کے تحفظ، روزگار کے مواقع بہتر بنانے اور موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے اثرات سے موثر طور پر نمٹنے کی صلاحیت پیدا کرنے میں معاون ثابت ہو رہے ہیں۔ ان کوششوں کو جاری رکھنے کے ساتھ ساتھ موجودہ جنگلات کا تحفظ اور نئے لگائے گئے درختوں کی بقا اور نشوونما یقینی بنانا بھی ضروری ہے۔

ان کوششوں کے اثرات ہمارے عوام کی روزمرہ زندگی پر بھی  مرتب ہوتے ہیں۔ درخت شہروں میں بڑھتی ہوئی گرمی کے دوران سایہ فراہم کرتے ہیں، مٹی اور آبی وسائل کے تحفظ میں مدد دیتے ہیں، سانس لینے کے لئے ضروری معیاری فضا میں بہتری لاتے ہیں اور دیہی آبادیوں کو پھل، چارہ اور دیگر وسائل فراہم کرتے ہیں۔ گرمی، پانی کی قلت اور شدید موسمی حالات کے اثرات کا سامنا کرنے والے خاندانوں، کسانوں اور مقامی آبادیوں کے لیے صحت بخش جنگلات اور سرسبز مقامات ماحولیاتی تحفظ فراہم کرنے کا ایک عملی ذریعہ ہیں۔

 موسم بہار شجرکاری مہم 2026 کے دوران عوام کی بھرپور شرکت حوصلہ افزا ہے۔ ان کاوشوں کو آگے بڑھاتے ہوئے مون سون شجرکاری مہم 2026 کے تحت ملک بھر میں دو کروڑ پودے لگانے کا ہدف مقرر کیا گیا ہے۔ میں اپنے شہریوں، بالخصوص نوجوانوں، تعلیمی اداروں، سرکاری و نجی تنظیموں اور مقامی آبادیوں سے التماس کرتا ہوں کہ وہ اس مہم میں بھرپور حصہ لیں اور، سب سے بڑھ کر، لگائے جانے والے پودوں کی حفاظت اور نشوونما کو یقینی بنائیں۔

مون سون شجرکاری مہم 2026 محض شجرکاری کی ایک مہم نہیں بلکہ پائیدار ماحولیاتی ذمہ داری اور اجتماعی عمل کی دعوت ہے۔ میں تمام شہریوں کی حوصلہ افزائی کرتا ہوں کہ وہ اپنے علاقوں کے لیے مقامی طور پر موزوں شجر کی اقسام لگائیں اور ان کے تحفظ اور بقا کو یقینی بنائیں۔ کامیابی کا اصل پیمانہ لگائے جانے والے پودوں کی تعداد نہیں بلکہ وہ صحت افزا درخت اور جنگلات ہیں جن کی ہم برسوں تک نگرانی و نشوونما کرتے ہیں۔

میں وزارتِ موسمیاتی تبدیلی و ماحولیاتی رابطہ کاری، صوبائی محکمہ ہائے جنگلات، آزاد جموں و کشمیر اور گلگت بلتستان کے محکمہ ہائے جنگلات، ترقیاتی شراکت داروں، سول سوسائٹی کی تنظیموں اور رضاکاروں کی جانب سے پاکستان کے جنگلات اور ماحولیاتی نظام کے تحفظ کے لیے کی جانے والی کوششوں کو سراہتا ہوں۔

آئیے، ہم سب مل کر ایک سرسبز، صاف ستھرے اور موسمیاتی تبدیلیوں کے اثرات سے نمٹنےکےلئے ہر دم تیار پاکستان کے لیے کام کریں۔ اپنے قدرتی وسائل کے تحفظ اور آج لگائے جانے والے پودوں کی نشوونما کے ذریعے ہم آنے والی نسلوں کے لیے صحت مند ماحول اور بہتر مستقبل کو یقینی بنانے میں اپنا کردار ادا کر سکتے ہیں۔
