I felicitate the entire Pakistani nation on the occasion of Pakistan Day. It was on this day in 1940 that Muslims of the sub-continent passed the Pakistan Resolution and made the demand for a separate homeland where they could freely lead their lives in accordance with Islamic ideals. Today, we pay tribute to the founding fathers of our nation whose struggles and sacrifices led to the creation of Pakistan.

The persecution of minorities, especially the Muslims in India; the rising wave of Hindutva and violence against Muslims; violation of human rights, and brutalities being committed by the Indian Security Forces in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) prove that the Muslim leadership of that time made a prudent decision.

This day also serves as a reminder to take stock of our successes and failures as a nation. At the time of independence, we were faced with many challenges like the settlement and rehabilitation of refugees, constitutional and administrative problems of the nascent state, security threats, laying solid social, economic and industrial foundations, and the conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. Despite these challenges, we made tremendous achievements in every field through our continuous hard work and ability.

We established state institutions, made our defence impregnable, achieved nuclear deterrence, curbed terrorism, overcame the COVID-19 pandemic, and displayed the spirit of sacrifice and cooperation in the face of natural calamities. We still have a long way to go to ensure the rule of law, strengthen democracy, reduce inequalities in our society, empower women, provide the rights of persons with disabilities, eradicate terrorism and extremism, ensure the political and economic stability of the country, and protect the human rights of our citizens.

Considering our achievements in the past, I strongly believe that we have the ability to overcome the challenges faced by Pakistan today. If we continue to work with unity, faith and discipline, we would be able to make Pakistan a strong and prosperous country. May Allah be with us all. Ameen!

کا یوم ِ پاکستان  ، 23 مارچ 2023 ء ، کے موقع پر قوم کے نام پیغام

میں یوم ِ پاکستان کے موقع پر پوری پاکستانی قوم کو مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں۔ آج کے دن 1940 ء میں برصغیر کے مسلمانوں نے قرارداد ِ پاکستان منظور کی اور ایک علیحدہ وطن کا مطالبہ کیا کہ جہاں وہ اسلامی نظریات کے مطابق آزادی سے اپنی زندگی بسر کر سکیں۔ آج ہم بانیانِ پاکستان ، جن کی جدوجہد اور قربانیوں کی بدولت پاکستان معرضِ وجود میں آیا ، کو خراج تحسین پیش کرتے ہیں ۔

بھارت میں اقلیتوں بالخصوص مسلمانوں پر ظلم و ستم؛ ہندوتوا کی بڑھتی ہوئی لہر اور مسلمانوں کے خلاف تشدد؛ انسانی حقوق کی خلاف ورزیاں، اور غیر قانونی طور پر بھارتی زیرتسلط جموں و کشمیر  میں بھارتی سیکورٹی فورسز کی طرف سے جاری مظالم اس بات کا ثبوت ہیں کہ اُس وقت کی مسلم قیادت نے ایک دانشمندانہ فیصلہ کیا تھا۔

یہ دن بحیثیت قوم ہمیں اپنی کامیابیوں اور ناکامیوں کا جائزہ لینے کی بھی یاد دہانی کراتا ہے۔ آزادی کے وقت ہمیں مہاجرین کی آباد کاری اور بحالی، نوزائیدہ ریاست کے آئینی اور انتظامی مسائل، سلامتی کے خطرات، نئی ریاست کو مضبوط سماجی، اقتصادی اور صنعتی بنیادوں پر استوار کرنے اور تنازعہ جموں و کشمیر جیسے بہت سے چیلنجز کا سامنا تھا۔ ان چیلنجز کے باوجود ہم نے اپنی مسلسل محنت اور قابلیت سے ہر شعبے میں شاندار کامیابیاں حاصل کیں۔

ہم نے ریاستی ادارے قائم کیے؛ اپنے دفاع کو ناقابل تسخیر بنایا؛ جوہری صلاحیت حاصل کی؛ دہشت گردی اور کورونا پر قابو پایا، اور قدرتی آفات کے دوران قربانی اور تعاون کے جذبے کا مظاہرہ کیا۔ ہمیں قانون کی حکمرانی یقینی بنانے؛ جمہوریت کو مضبوط کرنے؛ اپنے معاشرے میں عدم مساوات کو کم کرنے؛ خواتین کو بااختیار بنانے؛ خصوصی افراد کے حقوق کی فراہمی؛ دہشت گردی اور انتہا پسندی کے خاتمے ؛ اپنے شہریوں کے انسانی حقوق کا تحفظ کرنےاور ملک میں سیاسی اور معاشی استحکام کو یقینی بنانے کے لیے ابھی مزید کام کرنا ہے۔

ماضی میں ہماری کامیابیوں کو مدِ نظر رکھتے ہوئے ، میرا پختہ یقین ہے کہ ہم پاکستان کو درپیش چیلنجز پر قابو پانے کی مکمل صلاحیت رکھتے ہیں۔ اگر ہم اتحاد، ایمان اور نظم و ضبط کے ساتھ کام کرتے رہیں تو ہم پاکستان کو ایک مضبوط اور خوشحال ملک بنا سکتے ہیں۔ اللہ تعالیٰ ہم سب کا حامی و ناصر ہو۔ آمین!
