Message on the occasion of the International Day of Education  - 24th January 2026

On the International Day of Education, I extend my sincere greetings to the people of Pakistan, particularly our students, teachers, parents, scholars and all those engaged in the pursuit of education and learning.

This year’s theme, “The Power of Youth in Co-Creating Education,” highlights the importance of recognising young people not only as learners, but as thinkers, innovators and responsible citizens whose ideas strengthen educational systems and democratic societies.

Pakistan’s future is closely linked with its youth. As a nation with a rich cultural heritage and a large young population, we must ensure that education nurtures curiosity, competence and character. It should enable young people to think critically, act ethically and contribute positively to their communities. The constitutional guarantee of free and compulsory education under Article 25-A reflects our shared commitment to this fundamental right.

In a rapidly changing and interconnected world, education must combine academic excellence with practical skills, digital literacy, ethical values and respect for diversity. Efforts to strengthen higher education, promote research and innovation and expand digital learning reflect this evolving vision.

Measures such as expanded access to higher education, merit-based student support and improved access to technology are helping young people engage meaningfully with the knowledge economy.

Technical and vocational education and training play a vital role in equipping youth with employable skills and affirming the dignity of labour. National skills development initiatives are preparing young people for emerging technologies while aligning training with international standards, opening pathways for employment, entrepreneurship and global engagement.

Inclusive approaches that extend opportunities to women, madrassa students and youth from underserved regions promote social cohesion and ensure that progress is shared more equitably.

Education flourishes when families, communities, educators, institutions and the private sector work together, and when students themselves are meaningfully involved in shaping their learning environments.

On this day, I urge all stakeholders to reaffirm education as a national priority and to empower our youth as partners in building a skilled, enlightened and resilient Pakistan.

May our collective efforts continue to promote peace, progress and prosperity for generations to come.

کا  عالمی یومِ تعلیم کے موقع پر پیغام

عالمی یومِ تعلیم کے موقع پر میں پاکستان کے عوام، خاص طور پر طلبہ، اساتذہ، والدین، سکالرز اور تعلیم کے فروغ سے منسلک تمام افراد کو دلی مبارکباد پیش کرتا ہوں۔

اس سال کا موضوع ”تعلیم کی تخلیق میں نوجوانوں کی طاقت“ اس بات پر زور دیتا ہے کہ نوجوانوں کو صرف طالب علم نہیں بلکہ مفکر، موجد اور ذمہ دار شہری کے طور پر بھی تسلیم کیا جائے جن کے خیالات تعلیمی نظام اور جمہوری معاشروں کو مضبوط کرتے ہیں۔

پاکستان کا مستقبل براہِ راست اس کی نوجوان نسل سے جڑا ہوا ہے۔ ہمارے ملک کی ثقافتی وراثت وسیع اور نوجوان آبادی زیادہ ہے، اس لئے ہمیں اس بات کو یقینی بنانا چاہیے کہ تعلیم نوجوانوں میں نہ صرف تجسس، قابلیت اور کردار کو پروان چڑھائے بلکہ یہ ان کو تنقیدی سوچ، اخلاقی عمل اور معاشرے میں مثبت کردار ادا کرنے کے قابل بھی بنائے۔ آئین کے آرٹیکل 25 اے کے تحت مفت اور لازمی تعلیم کی ضمانت اس بنیادی حق کے لئے ہمارے مشترکہ عزم کی عکاس ہے۔

تیزی سے بدلتے ہوئے اور باہمی رابطوں پر مبنی عالمی منظرنامے میں، تعلیم کوعملی مہارتوں، جدید علوم، اخلاقی اقدار اور تنوع کے احترام کو یکجا کرنا چاہیے۔ اعلیٰ تعلیم کو بہتر بنانے، تحقیق اور ایجاد کو فروغ دینے اور ڈیجیٹل تعلیم میں اضافے کی کوششیں اس بدلتی ہوئی سوچ کی عکاسی کرتی ہیں۔ 

اعلیٰ تعلیم تک رسائی، مستحق طلباء کی امداد اور ٹیکنالوجی تک بہتر رسائی جیسے اقدامات نوجوانوں کو عملی معیشت میں اپنا کردار ادا کرنے میں مدد دے رہے ہیں۔

تکنیکی اور پیشہ ورانہ تعلیم و تربیت نوجوانوں کو قابلِ روزگار مہارتوں سے آراستہ کرنے اور محنت کی عظمت کو باور کرانے میں اہم کردار ادا کرتی ہیں۔ مہارتوں کے فروغ کے لئے اٹھائے جانے والے قومی اقدامات نوجوانوں کو ابھرتی ہوئی ٹیکنالوجیز سے استفادہ کے لیے تیار کررہے ہیں اور تربیت کو عالمی معیار سے ہم آہنگ کرنے کے ساتھ ساتھ انہیں روزگار، کاروبار اور عالمی سطح پر شمولیت کے مواقع فراہم کر رہے ہیں۔ 

خواتین، مدارس کے طلباء اور پسماندہ علاقوں کے نوجوانوں تک مواقع بڑھانے والے اقدامات سماجی ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دیتے ہیں اور اس بات کو یقینی بناتے ہیں کہ ترقی کے ثمرات سب کو یکساں طور پر میسر ہو۔

تعلیم اس وقت پروان چڑھتی ہے جب خاندان، معاشرہ، اساتذہ، ادارے اور نجی شعبہ مل کر کام کرتے ہیں، اور جب  طلباء خود اپنے علمی ماحول کو سنوارنے میں حقیقی طور پر شامل ہوں۔

آج کے دن، میں تمام متعلقہ افراد اور اداروں سے یہ امید رکھتا ہوں کہ وہ تعلیم کو قومی ترجیح کے طور پر تسلیم کریں گے اور اپنے نوجوانوں کو ایک ہنر مند، روشن خیال اور مضبوط پاکستان کی تعمیر میں شراکت دار بنائیں گے۔

دعا ہے کہ ہماری اجتماعی کوششیں آنے والی نسلوں کےلئے امن، ترقی اور خوشحالی کی ضامن ہوں۔
