Message on the 98th Birth Anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto - 5th January 2026

Today, on the birth anniversary of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, we pay homage to a towering statesman whose life and leadership profoundly shaped the destiny of Pakistan. He rose to become a defining figure in our nation’s political history and remains an enduring source of inspiration.  

Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto founded the Pakistan People’s Party with a vision of justice, equality and empowerment for all citizens. Under his leadership Pakistan adopted its first unanimously approved Constitution in 1973, a cornerstone of our parliamentary democracy and federal order.  

He championed the rights of the marginalised and gave voice to the voiceless. His reforms in land rights, labour protections and expansion of education and public services sought to widen opportunity and dignity for farmers, workers, women and the underprivileged.  

Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto was also the main architect of Pakistan’s nuclear programme, laying the foundation for our sovereign deterrent and long-term security. His statesmanship strengthened Pakistan’s independent foreign policy and deepened relations with friendly nations, while hosting the historic 1974 Islamic Summit Conference that enhanced cooperation within the Muslim world.  

On this day we remember not only his achievements, but also his courage in the face of adversity and his unwavering commitment to democratic ideals. 

On this day we must not forget the consensus building capacity of the great leader who created historic and unprecedented consensus in the creating the first democratic, federal parliamentary constitution in the shortest time; a constitution born out of the first constituent assembly elected on one person one vote. Today we need that consensus building more than ever.

His life reminds us that the progress of a nation is rooted in resolve, inclusivity and the courage to serve its people.  

As we honour his memory on the 98th anniversary of his birth, let us reaffirm our resolve to carry forward his vision of a just, democratic and forward-looking Pakistan. May his legacy continue to guide our collective efforts for peace, prosperity and unity.

آج شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کے یوم پیدائش  کی سالگرہ کے موقع پر ہم ایک ایسے بلند پایہ سیاستدان کو خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرتے ہیں جن کی زندگی اور قیادت نے پاکستان کی تاریخ پر گہرے اثرات مرتب کئے۔ وہ ہماری قومی سیاسی تاریخ میں ایک عہد ساز شخصیت بن کر ابھرے اور آج بھی ایک دائمی مسحور کن اور متاثر کن شخصیت کے طور پر جانے جاتے ہیں۔ 

شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو نے پاکستان پیپلز پارٹی کی بنیاد انصاف، مساوات اور تمام شہریوں کو بااختیار بنانے کے وژن کے ساتھ رکھی۔ ان کی قیادت میں پاکستان نے1973 میں متفقہ طور پر منظور ہونے والا پہلا آئین بنایا جو ملک کی پارلیمانی جمہوریت اور وفاقی نظام کی بنیاد ہے۔

انہوں نے محروم طبقات کے حقوق کےلئے جدوجہد کی اور بے آوازوں کو آواز دی۔ انہوں نے زرعی اصلاحات، مزدوروں کے تحفظ اور تعلیم و عوامی خدمات کے فروغ کے ذریعے کسانوں، محنت کشوں، خواتین اور پسماندہ طبقات کےلئے مواقع اور باوقار زندگی کو وسعت دینے کی کوشش کی۔

شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو پاکستان کے ایٹمی پروگرام کے کلیدی  معمار بھی تھے، جس نے ہماری خودمختار دفاعی صلاحیت اور دائمی قومی سلامتی کی بنیاد رکھی۔ ان کی مدبرانہ قیادت نے پاکستان کی آزاد خارجہ پالیسی کو مضبوط کیا اور دوست ممالک کے ساتھ تعلقات کو ایک نئی منزل تک پہنچایا۔ انہوں نے 1974 کی تاریخی اسلامی سربراہی کانفرنس کی میزبانی بھی کی جس سے عالمِ اسلام میں تعاون اور یکجہتی کو  بے پناہ تقویت ملی۔

آج کے دن ہم نہ صرف ان کی عظیم خدمات کو یاد کرتے ہیں بلکہ مشکلات کے مقابلے میں ان کے عزم، حوصلے اور جمہوری اقدار سے غیر متزلزل وابستگی کو بھی خراجِ تحسین پیش کرتے ہیں۔

آج ہمیں اس عظیم رہنما کی اتفاقِ رائے پیدا کرنے کی غیر معمولی صلاحیت کو بھی فراموش نہیں کرنا چاہیے جس کے نتیجے میں نہایت قلیل مدت میں پاکستان کا پہلا جمہوری، وفاقی اور پارلیمانی آئین تشکیل پایا۔ یہ آئین پہلی دستور ساز اسمبلی کے مرتب کردہ ”ایک فرد، ایک ووٹ“ کے اصول کے تحت بنایا گیا۔ آج قوم کو اس نوعیت کا اتفاقِ رائے پیدا کرنے کی پہلے سے بھی کہیں زیادہ ضرورت ہے۔

ان کی زندگی ہمیں یاد دلاتی ہے کہ قوم کی ترقی کا دارومدار قومی عزم، عوامی شمولیت اور عوام کی خدمت کے حوصلے پر ہوتا ہے۔

شہید ذوالفقار علی بھٹو کو98 ویں یوم پیدائش کے موقع پر خراجِ عقیدت پیش کرتے ہوئے آئیے ہم ان کے انصاف پر مبنی، جمہوری اور روشن مستقبل کے حوالے سے پاکستان کے وژن کو آگے بڑھانے کے اپنے عزم کا اعادہ کریں۔ دعا ہے کہ ان کی سیاسی اور علمی میراث ہمیں امن، خوشحالی اور قومی اتحاد کےلئے کی جانے والے اجتماعی کوششوں میں مسلسل رہنمائی فراہم کرتی رہے۔
