Message on Christmas - 25th December 2025

On the joyous occasion of Christmas, I extend my warm greetings and sincere wishes to Christian citizens of Pakistan and to Christian communities around the world.

Christmas is a time of hope, peace and compassion. The message of love and service to humanity that this season brings reminds us of the deep bonds that unite all people. 

Father of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, articulated a vision of Pakistan rooted in freedom and equality for all. In his historic address to the first Constituent Assembly on 11 August 1947, he said: “You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or any other place of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed — that has nothing to do with the business of the State.” These words remain a powerful affirmation of our commitment to religious freedom and mutual respect among all citizens.  

Christian citizens of Pakistan have made important contributions to our society in politics, national defence, education, literature, arts, music, health care, social welfare and public service. Their efforts strengthen our shared progress and enrich our national life.

On this day we must not forget the role of S. P. Singha, the Speaker of Punjab Legislative Assembly who cast his crucial vote to join Pakistan. This is also the day to remember our war hero Cecil Chaudhry who in 1965 war miraculously destroyed Indian aircrafts, ammunition and fuel depots in the most dangerous mission and returned with his badly damaged aircraft only after completing his mission.

Pakistan’s Constitution guarantees equal rights and freedom of religion for every citizen. We remain committed to fostering harmony, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among all communities. Our diversity is a source of strength and should inspire greater unity, understanding and cooperation.

On this blessed day, I wish the Christian community a Merry Christmas and a New Year filled with peace, health and prosperity. May the spirit of Christmas inspire us all to uphold compassion and justice and to work together for the welfare of our nation.

کا کرسمس کے موقع پر پیغام

کرسمس کے پُرمسرت موقع پر میں پاکستان کے مسیحی شہریوں اور دنیا بھر کی مسیحی برادری کو دلی مبارکباد اور نیک تمنائیں پیش کرتا ہوں۔

کرسمس امید، امن اور ہمدردی کا پیغام لے کر آتا ہے۔ اس موقع پر محبت اور انسانیت کی خدمت کا درس ہمیں اُن گہرے رشتوں کی یاد دلاتا ہے جو تمام انسانوں کو ایک دوسرے سے جوڑتے ہیں۔

بابائے قوم قائدِاعظم محمد علی جناحؒ نے پاکستان کا ایسا وژن پیش کیا جو آزادی اور سب کے لیے برابری پر مبنی تھا۔ 11 اگست 1947 کو پہلی دستور ساز اسمبلی سے اپنے تاریخی خطاب میں اُنہوں نے فرمایا:
“آپ آزاد ہیں؛ آپ آزاد ہیں کہ اپنے مندروں میں جائیں، اپنی مساجد میں جائیں یا پاکستان کی ریاست میں کسی بھی عبادت گاہ میں جائیں۔ آپ کا تعلق کسی بھی مذہب، ذات یا عقیدے سے ہو،اس کا ریاست کے امور سے کوئی تعلق نہیں۔”
یہ الفاظ مذہبی آزادی اور تمام شہریوں کے درمیان باہمی احترام کے لیے ہمارے عزم کی مضبوط توثیق کرتے ہیں۔

پاکستان کے مسیحی شہریوں نے سیاست، قومی دفاع، تعلیم، ادب، فنونِ لطیفہ، موسیقی، صحت، سماجی بہبود اور عوامی خدمت سمیت مختلف شعبوں میں اہم خدمات انجام دی ہیں۔ اُن کی کاوشیں ہماری مشترکہ ترقی کو تقویت دیتی اور ہماری قومی زندگی کو مزید مالا مال کرتی ہیں۔

اس دن ہمیں ایس۔ پی۔ سنگھا، اسپیکر پنجاب لیجسلیٹو اسمبلی، کے کردار کو بھی یاد رکھنا چاہیے جنہوں نے پاکستان کے حق میں فیصلہ کن ووٹ دیا۔ اسی طرح یہ دن ہمارے جنگی ہیرو سیسل چودھری کو یاد کرنے کا بھی ہے جنہوں نے 1965 کی جنگ میں نہایت خطرناک مشن کے دوران بھارتی طیاروں، اسلحہ اور ایندھن کے ڈپوؤں کو تباہ کیا اور اپنے طیارے کو شدید نقصان پہنچنے کے باوجود مشن مکمل کر کے بحفاظت واپس آئے۔

پاکستان کا آئین ہر شہری کے لیے مساوی حقوق اور مذہبی آزادی کی ضمانت دیتا ہے۔ ہم تمام برادریوں کے درمیان ہم آہنگی، باہمی احترام اور پُرامن بقائے باہمی کے فروغ کے لیے پُرعزم ہیں۔ ہمارا تنوع ہماری طاقت ہے اور اسے مزید اتحاد، رواداری اور تعاون کا باعث بننا چاہیے۔

اس بابرکت دن پر میں مسیحی برادری کو کرسمس کی مبارکباد اور نئے سال کے لیے امن، صحت اور خوشحالی کی نیک خواہشات پیش کرتا ہوں۔دعا گو ہوں کہ کرسمس کی روح ہم سب کو ہمدردی اور انصاف کے اصولوں پر کاربند رہنے اور اپنی قوم کی فلاح کے لیے مل کر کام کرنے کی ترغیب دے۔
