World Polio Day is a reminder to our shared commitment to continue making efforts towards eliminating the menace of this crippling disease. Pakistan, unfortunately, is one of the few countries where the polio virus continues to threaten the future of our children.
Polio eradication is the highest priority of the Government of Pakistan and the incumbent Government is making all possible efforts to eliminate this endemic disease. I am sure that together as a society we can defeat this disease and secure the future of our children from the perils and the disabilities caused by Polio.
Let us also on this day, reflect that how far we have been able to cater to the needs of those who unfortunately were affected by this disease. We should further enhance our efforts to facilitate those who are physically challenged. The needs of people with disabilities can be met if each one of us starts feeling the agony of being handicapped
On this day, I also call upon civil society, religious leaders, media and people from all walks of life to play even greater role towards creating awareness against polio, complementing government efforts and facilitating polio teams to reach out to each and every child in every nook and corner of the country. I am confident that Insha Allah we will succeed in this noble cause.
