Islamabad, 14 December 2025: First Lady, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari has urged parents, caregivers, public representatives and community leaders to actively support the December Nationwide Polio Vaccination Campaign, scheduled from 15 to 21 December 2025 across all provinces and regions of the country.

She said the success of the campaign depends on collective responsibility and called on families to ensure that every child under five years of age receives polio drops. The campaign aims to vaccinate 45.4 million children nationwide, including 23.3 million in Punjab, 10.6 million in Sindh, 7.3 million in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and 2.66 million in Balochistan, with the remaining children covered in Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and Islamabad Capital Territory. The drive is being conducted in coordination with Afghanistan’s December polio campaign to curb cross-border virus transmission.

Recalling the legacy of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, she said Pakistan’s first nationwide polio eradication campaign was launched under her leadership in 1994 and that her vision continues to guide national efforts to eliminate the disease. She shared that she feels a deep personal connection to the cause, remembering that her mother, as Prime Minister, personally administered the first polio drops to her. She said that moment marked the beginning of Pakistan’s national fight against polio and shaped her lifelong commitment to this effort.

She shared that the campaign will follow a three-day house-to-house vaccination drive with one catch-up day. In high-risk areas implementing Community-Based Vaccination and Special Mobile Team strategies, a five-day campaign will be conducted with two additional catch-up days. A total of 408,484 frontline polio workers, including Area Incharges, Union Council Medical Officers and mobile, fixed and transit teams, have been deployed across the country.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also called upon elected representatives, local government officials, religious leaders and community elders to stand with polio teams, facilitate access to communities and help counter misinformation and hesitancy.

She noted that campaign preparedness was reviewed at the national level during a readiness meeting chaired by the Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination on 11 December, alongside Provincial Task Force meetings led by Chief Secretaries to ensure security, logistics, workforce readiness and coordination. The campaign has been formally launched in all provinces, with National and Provincial Emergency Operations Centres deploying technical experts in high-risk areas for close supervision and real-time support.

Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari urged citizens to welcome vaccinators, report missed children and support frontline workers, saying that only united action can stop this virus and protect the future of Pakistan’s children.

اسلام آباد, 14 دسمبر 2025 : خاتونِ اوّل بی بی آصفہ بھٹو زرداری نے والدین، سرپرستوں، عوامی نمائندوں اور کمیونٹی رہنماؤں پر زور دیا ہے کہ وہ 15 سے 21 دسمبر 2025 تک ملک کے تمام صوبوں اور علاقوں میں شروع ہونے والی قومی انسدادِ پولیو ویکسینیشن مہم کی بھرپور حمایت کریں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ اس مہم کی کامیابی اجتماعی ذمہ داری سے مشروط ہے اور خاندانوں سے اپیل کی کہ پانچ سال سے کم عمر ہر بچے کو پولیو کے قطرے ضرور پلائے جائیں۔ اس مہم کے دوران ملک بھر میں 45.4 ملین بچوں کو ویکسین پلانے کا ہدف مقرر کیا گیا ہے، جن میں پنجاب میں 23.3 ملین، سندھ میں 10.6 ملین، خیبر پختونخوا میں 7.3 ملین اور بلوچستان میں 2.66 ملین بچے شامل ہیں، جبکہ باقی بچوں کو آزاد جموں و کشمیر، گلگت بلتستان اور اسلام آباد میں کور کیا جائے گا۔ سرحد پار وائرس کی منتقلی روکنے کے لیے یہ مہم افغانستان کی دسمبر پولیو مہم کے ساتھ ہم آہنگی میں چلائی جا رہی ہے۔

انہوں نے شہید محترمہ بینظیر بھٹو کی جدوجہد کو یاد کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ پاکستان میں پہلی قومی انسدادِ پولیو مہم 1994 میں ان کی قیادت میں شروع کی گئی تھی اور ان کا وژن آج بھی اس مرض کے خاتمے کے لیے قومی کوششوں کی رہنمائی کر رہا ہے۔ بی بی آصفہ بھٹو زرداری نے کہا کہ اس جدوجہد سے ان کا گہرا ذاتی تعلق ہے، کیونکہ وہ اس لمحے کو یاد کرتی ہیں جب ان کی والدہ نے بطور وزیرِاعظم انہیں خود پولیو کے پہلے قطرے پلائے تھے۔ ان کے مطابق وہی لمحہ پاکستان کی پولیو کے خلاف قومی جدوجہد کا نقطۂ آغاز تھا اور اسی نے اس مقصد کے لیے ان کی تاحیات وابستگی کو شکل دی۔

انہوں نے بتایا کہ تین روزہ مہم کے دوران گھر گھر جا کر ویکسینیشن کی جائے گی، جس کے بعد ایک اضافی رکھا گیا ہے۔ ہائی رسک علاقوں میں، جہاں کمیونٹی بیسڈ ویکسینیشن اور اسپیشل موبائل ٹیموں کی حکمتِ عملی اپنائی جا رہی ہے، وہاں پانچ روزہ مہم ہوگی جس میں دو اضافی دن شامل ہوں گے۔ ملک بھر میں 408,484 فرنٹ لائن پولیو ورکرز تعینات کیے گئے ہیں، جن میں ایریا انچارجز، یونین کونسل میڈیکل آفیسرز اور موبائل، فکسڈ اور ٹرانزٹ ٹیمیں شامل ہیں۔

بی بی آصفہ بھٹو زرداری نے منتخب نمائندوں، مقامی حکومتوں کے عہدیداران، مذہبی رہنماؤں اور کمیونٹی عمائدین سے بھی اپیل کی کہ وہ پولیو ٹیموں کا ساتھ دیں، کمیونٹیز تک رسائی میں سہولت فراہم کریں اور غلط معلومات و ہچکچاہٹ کے تدارک میں کردار ادا کریں۔

انہوں نے کہا کہ مہم کی تیاریوں کا قومی سطح پر 11 دسمبر کو وفاقی وزیر برائے قومی صحت خدمات، ضوابط و ہم آہنگی کی صدارت میں ہونے والے اجلاس میں جائزہ لیا گیا، جس کے بعد صوبائی سطح پر چیف سیکرٹریز کی قیادت میں ٹاسک فورس اجلاس منعقد ہوئے تاکہ سیکیورٹی، لاجسٹکس، افرادی قوت کی تیاری اور باہمی ہم آہنگی کو یقینی بنایا جا سکے۔ مہم کا باضابطہ آغاز تمام صوبوں میں کر دیا گیا ہے، جبکہ نیشنل اور صوبائی ایمرجنسی آپریشنز سینٹرز ہائی رسک علاقوں میں قریبی نگرانی اور بروقت معاونت کے لیے تکنیکی ماہرین تعینات کر رہے ہیں۔

بی بی آصفہ بھٹو زرداری نے شہریوں سے اپیل کی کہ وہ ویکسینیٹرز کا خیرمقدم کریں، کسی بھی رہ جانے والے بچے کی اطلاع دیں اور فرنٹ لائن کارکنان کی حوصلہ افزائی کریں، کیونکہ متحدہ کاوشوں ہی سے اس وائرس کا خاتمہ اور پاکستان کے بچوں کے مستقبل کا تحفظ ممکن ہے۔
