President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the increasing frequency and severity of natural disasters have further enhanced the importance of the role of humanitarian organizations.
President Mamnoon Hussain said this while talking toMr. Sven Mollekleiv, President Norwegian Red Cross who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday.
Welcoming the President Norwegian Red Cross, President Mamnoon Hussain admired the role of Norwegian Red Cross in alleviating the miseries of people both man-made and natural calamities throughout the world and particularly in Pakistan, especially during earthquake 2005 and the recent floods.
The President appreciated efforts of Norwegian Red Cross for its contribution in building the institutional capacities of Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS). The President emphasized the importance of PRCS in sharing the burden of the government by reaching out and mitigating the troubles of the victims of natural calamities.
The President expressed hope that Norwegian Red Cross and PRCS will provide policy guidelines and practical support to disaster management network in Pakistan.
