Islamabad, September 11, 2019: President Dr. Arif Alvi was presented the Annual Audit Report for the financial year 2017-18 by Auditor General of Pakistan, Mr. Javaid Jehangir, who called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Wednesday.
During the financial year 2017-18, audit of Rs. 13,652.145 billion was conducted and Rs 127.279 billion was recovered. Highlighting the constitutional importance of the office of Auditor General of Pakistan, the President said that transparency had to be the priority of any government to ensure good governance. He emphasized that modern technology must be integrated in the audit process to ensure transparency and further enhance efficiency.
The Auditor General of Pakistan apprised the President about salient features of the Annual Report and said that every effort was being made to ensure efficiency and discipline in the organization so that Pakistan could be free from the menace of corruption. He also informed the President that the automation of the audit process was also underway.
