PRESIDENT ADDRESSES THE CEREMONY OF RED CROSS

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that completion of Pak-China development projects would change the fate of the country. The President called upon the nation to reject elements creating hurdles in the way of these development projects.
The President was addressing on the occasion of 150thanniversary of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society here in Islamabad on Wednesday.
The President said that Pakistan is emerging out of a phase of isolation which is evident from increase in international activities and visits of world leaders to the country. The President stated that the visit of Chinese President saw signing of historical agreements between the two countries. He said the construction of economic corridor from Kashgar to Gawadar would usher in economic revolution in the region.
The President stated that the menace of corruption is one of the biggest reasons for Pakistan’s current problems. The President called for launching a nationwide reformation campaign to overcome the challenges confronting the country today. Declaring youth the vanguards of this campaign, the President called upon them to wage struggle against corruption. The President also urged the nation to go for social boycott of the corrupt elements. The President noted that today China has become the second biggest economy of the world only by dint of hard work, honesty and dedication. The President emphasized on creating awareness in the society for eradication of corruption.
The President noted with appreciation that whenever there were instances of natural calamities and man-made disasters in the country; Red Crescent Society and allied organizations joined hands with the government in helping out and alleviating the sufferings of the affected people. The President also appreciated the humanitarian activities carried out by Pakistan Red Crescent Society over the last one year under the dynamic guidance of its Chairman Dr. Saeed Elahi.
