President Mamnoon Hussain has directed the Federal and Provincial Ombudsmen to expedite measures for providing timely justice to less well to do segments of society.
The President said this while chairing the meeting of Wafaqi Mohtasib’s ‘Federal Advisory Committee on Reforms and Alternate Dispute Resolution’ at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.
The President appreciated the role of Federal Ombudsman for addressing the problems and grievances of general public on a fast track basis adding that to serve the people is noble. The President called for paying attention in this context especially in the rural areas to provide justice that is affordable and accessible. The President also urged the Advisory Committee to formulate suggestions for addressing the grievances of people of far flung areas. The President emphasized on creating awareness amongst general public about the available procedures to redress their complaints.
He said that the present government has prioritized provision of justice in its agenda. The President stressed that members of the committee and Ombudsmen should work with dedication for providing expeditious relief to millions of citizens across the country. The President expressed the hope that the organization of Ombudsman would address the problems of educational institutions as well.
Federal Ombudsman Salman Faruqui, Barrister Waseem Sajjad, Chairman Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Saeed Mehdi, Engineer Shamul Mulk, Chairman Board of Directors of Rural Support Programme Shoaib Sultan and provincial Ombudsmen also spoke on the occasion.
