President Mamnoon Hussain has warned anti-peace elements in the country and Karachi to desist from anti-state activities otherwise they will not be spared.
The President was addressing the laptop distribution ceremony at NED University of Engineering and Technology here in Karachi on Wednesday. The President called upon the nation to act in unison in improving the situation of Karachi and the country. Discussing the situation in Karachi brought water in President’s eyes and deplored that unrest in Karachi has dimmed its bright face. The President expressed hope that Karachi will soon be made a city of peace. He stated that time has come to restore peace in the metropolis and across the country. We are the citizens and custodians of Karachi and will defeat the dark forces, emphasized the President. The President said that successful progression of operation Zarb-e-Azb has produced positive results.
The President stated that the construction of economic corridor will make the region a centre of economic activities and expressed hope that additional production of electricity will end load shedding. He stated that construction of economic corridor will introduce new trends of commerce and trade in the region particularly in Pakistan adding that various new industries and businesses will be set up to keep the corridor bustling. The President called for harnessing new technologies to take advantage from the opportunities arising in the country. He called upon the youth to get ready to meet the future challenges. He expressed hope that Pakistan will be included in the list of developed countries by 2025.
The President stated that there is no conflict over the route of economic corridor. Chinese experts had suggested four options and the work is being undertaken on these options, explained the President. The President called upon the nation to reject elements creating hurdles in the project.
The President impressed upon the students to play their role in eliminating corruption from the society. He also emphasized on the social boycott of corrupt elements for eradicating the menace of corruption.
The President stated that one of his utmost desires is to restore the standard of education in Karachi adding that whenever he gets an opportunity to visit an educational institution in the city he gladly does so. He said that as President promotion of education was on the top of his list of priorities adding that elimination of corruption, improvement of health services and culture were also among his priorities.
The President stated that it is also one of his desires that daughters of nation acquire modern education and improve their skills thereby making contributions toward national progress. The President also advised them to keep their Pakistani and Islamic identity in view while pursuing their education.
