The President stated that agriculture is the backbone of national economy adding that measures are being taken to upgrade agricultural infrastructure to ensure future food security in the country. The government is taking steps to promote pro-poor agricultural growth and food security, said the President.
The President said that the PSSP is playing a key and proactive role towards ensuring food security in Pakistan in partnership with the federal and provincial governments and other stakeholders. There is a need to formulate informed agricultural and economic policy through research, analysis and public discussion with the stakeholders for attaining agricultural productivity goals, added the President.
The President expressed hope that the conference will afford a unique opportunity to the national and international experts to interact and deliberate towards achieving the common goal of building a food-secure future for Pakistan and its people
