PRESIDENT MEETS VETERANS OF PAKISTAN MOVEMENT

President Mamnoon Hussain has said that Pakistan is on the road to progress and stability after a long gap and expressed hope that we as a nation would be successful in developing Pakistan according to the dreams of Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal.

The President expressed these views in a special sitting with the veterans of Pakistan Movement at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. On the occasion, former President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar, Advisor to Prime Minister on National security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz and a large number of Pakistan Movement veterans were also present.

The President expressed that the participation of companions of great Quaid-e-Azam in the event has increased its importance and refreshed the memories of Pakistan Movement. He hoped that Pakistan would be on the path to progress in the light of ideals of its great founding fathers. The President said that the purpose of organizing the event is to pay tributes to veterans of Pakistan Movement who rendered immense sacrifices in the establishment of a separate homeland.

The President said that Pakistan stands at a threshold of bright opportunities and the entire nation should become one for taking advantage from it adding that the projects for country’s development and stability are not for any party or a group but for the whole nation.

Former President Muhammad Rafiq Tarar expressed hope that the goals for which Pakistan was created would be attained adding that for this there is a need to focus on human resource development. Renowned journalist Zahid Malik said that today’s event is reflection of unprecedented patriotism. Prominent journalist Altaf Hassan Qureshi called for promoting national unity and giving Urdu language its due status. Former Chairman WAPDA Engineer Shams ul Mulk said that character determines leadership of which the best example was 
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He further stated that Pakistan can attain its destination by following in the footsteps of Quaid-e-Azam.
