A DELEGATION OF OVERSEAS PAKISTANIS CALLS ON THE PRESIDENT
President Mamnoon Hussain has said that overseas Pakistani are playing a significant role for the betterment of Pakistan’s economy. The President stated that progress of Pakistan is associated with peace in Karachi.
The President was talking to a delegation of overseas Pakistanis of Middle East who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr. The delegation was headed by Chaudhry Noor-ul-Hassan Tanvir. Other members of the delegation, among others, comprised Mr. Arshad Anjum, Mr. Azad Ali Tabassum and Mr. Abdul Waheed.
The President said that remittances of overseas Pakistanis contribute significantly in country’s economy. The President expressed hope that overseas Pakistanis would continue playing their role in promoting the soft image of Pakistan.
The Pakistan said that Pak-China Economic Corridor Project will bring about great economic benefits not only for Pakistan but also for the entire region.
The President said that operation Zerb-e-Azb is progressing successfully against terrorists, adding that operation would continue till the elimination of terrorists. The President stated that the government is making efforts to resolve the energy crisis. The President said that corruption is one of the biggest challenges. Let’s resolve today to weed out the curse of corruption, added the Pakistan.
hope that the Summit would be productive further cementing the bond between the two.
Talking about the operation in Karachi, the President said that the operation would continue indiscriminately against all the criminals until the peace is restored in the city.
The President appreciated the outgoing ambassador for his assistance and support in enabling Pakistan to qualify for the GSP plus Scheme in December 2013 which has resulted in an increase in trade with the EU by over $1billion in 2014. The President expressed confidence that Pakistan’s relations with the EU would continue to expand in the future to the mutual benefit of both.
The President also wished the ambassador well in his future assignment.
